Exploring Our Embodiment Journey in Ireland

Exploring Our Embodiment Journey: A Pre and Perinatal Workshop in Ireland

A couple of years ago, I embarked on a journey to trace my Irish heritage. During this trip, I connected with Sarah, who expressed a deep desire to raise awareness about the importance of pre and perinatal education in Ireland. She invited me to conduct a workshop, and I eagerly accepted.

The workshop I designed is straightforward yet profound, spanning a long weekend. It focuses on basic pre and perinatal themes, including our embodiment journey, preconception, conception, the fallopian tube journey, implantation, the moment of discovery, and umbilical affect. We also explore the stages of birth and their consequences.

One of the highlights of the workshop is an experiential exercise where we build a tunnel out of human bodies. Each participant sits in front of this tunnel, deciding its size, length, and shape. This tunnel serves as a powerful metaphor, representing the various tunnels we navigate in life, from the fallopian tube to the birth canal.

As participants sit in front of the tunnel, they often experience profound realizations about areas in their lives where they feel stuck or compromised. These experiences can manifest physically, such as difficulty breathing or feeling choked, or emotionally, like feeling unwelcomed by the world. These early imprints and stories come to light, providing valuable insights.

After navigating through the tunnel, participants engage in reflection and research to understand the meaning behind their experiences. I provide teaching on specific topics, and we offer opportunities to repattern these experiences through somatic exercises. These exercises are deeply neurologically reprogramming and healing, allowing participants to simulate being received in love or removing obstacles like an umbilical cord around the neck.

This blend of learning and self-experience equips participants with the knowledge to understand and work with pre and perinatal themes in their own practices. It also provides personal healing and growth, addressing blind spots and fostering a deeper connection with their own embodiment journey.

Though the workshop lasts only three days, participants leave with a wealth of information and transformative experiences that they can bring back to their practices and personal lives.

Through this workshop, we aim to make pre and perinatal education more awake and aware in Ireland, emphasizing its importance for holistic health and wellbeing.
